Tottenham transfer rumours and news: Saido Berahino deal frustrations, Moussa Dembele hope
A look at the latest talk around White Hart Lane

Despite planning a fresh bid, Tottenham Hotspur are growing increasing frustrated with West Bromwich Albion’s hard-line stance over long-term target Saido Berahino. The Baggies boss, Tony Pulis, has not handed the former England under-21s striker a Premier League start since October, citing a lack of fitness and form among his reasoning.
But Spurs have not been deterred after failing with a series of attempts to lure Berahino to White Hart Lane in the summer. West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace famously fell out with Daniel Levy, his Tottenham counterpart, and has refused to back down from his £25m valuation. According to the Daily Mirror, Spurs would have to meet that fugure, with add-ons, if they are to secure a deal.
More positive news for the north London outfit arrives with the apparent revelation that Fulham may be prepared to sell Moussa Dembele. Spurs are hoping to land the 19-year-old for between £4m and £6m after isolating him as a key part of their future plans.
Sky Sports report that, contrary to earlier suggestions, Mauricio Pochettino’s men would not be compelled to loan Dembele back to the Championship outfit. The powerful striker has just six months left on his contract and his representatives are free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement - with talks taking place with European powerhouses Monaco and Wolfsburg.
Swinging the pendulum back towards bad news now as the Independent report Tottenham boss Pochettino is subject to interest from London rivals Chelsea. The Argentine has revolutionised Spurs this season, turning them into title challengers and looking towards Champions League qualification at the least.
The Blues, managed by interim manager Guus Hiddink, however, have no such aspirations this term after a disastrous start to the campaign under Jose Mourinho. The 43-year-old former Southampton boss is joined by Antonio Conte, Jorge Sampaoli, Diego Simeone and Didier Deschamps on Chelsea’s shortlist. It is believed Pochettino’s ability to provide results straight away, while helping young home-grown players to develop, has put him in strong contention.
