The transfer of Marseilles' Nicolas N'Koulou to Tottenham is nearing completion, with reports claiming the French club have accepted a bid of around £5m for the defender.

The 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and Marseilles would rather sell now than lose him for free this summer.

Calciomercato have reported that N'Koulou has agreed the join Spurs, with the deal now imminent.

Nicolas N'Koulou has made 86 appearances for the Cameroon national team.

Report from this season morning also claim that Spurs have joined Liverpool in the chase for Granit Xhaka, the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

The 23-year-old Switzerland midfielder is a hot commodity at the moment, and speaking about the interest, the player's father and agent, Ragip Xhaka, is quoted as saying, "At the moment I prefer not to say too much. We'll see what happens. I can say that several big clubs are interested. Everything is possible, we're not ruling anything out."

Totttenham are stalling over making another move for West Brom striker Saido Berahino this month, as they are wary about unsettling the harmony within the squad, according to Standard Sport.

Spurs had three offers for the 22-year-old rejected during the summer, their final bid was rejected on the last day of the summer transfer window.

The report adds that Spurs are unwilling to match the offer they made four months ago because they believe Berahino has lost value since then.

Real Madrid are monitoring Harry Kane ahead of making a potential bid for the player in the summer, according to the Telegraph.

The report claims that Real are looking at the player as part of a rebuilding process with doubts over whether Cristiano Ronaldo and other big stars from the club will still be there next season.
