From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The transfer window is open which means it's that time of year when stories of clubs spending ludicrous sums of money on players you've never heard of is par for the course. Here, we take a look at some of today's more intriguing rumours...

Manchester United manager David Moyes wants to bring Spanish star Thiago Alcantara to Old Trafford. The 22-year-old sensation has reportedly rejected a move to Real Madrid and looks set to join the Premier League champions.

Moyes also said this morning, in an exclusive interview with TalkSport, that United need start delving into transfer market and reiterated the point that Wayne Rooney will be staying at the club.

Up and coming star Nacer Chadli is close to joining Tottenham according to the Daily Mail. The Belgium international would cost Andre Villas-Boas' side £7.75m from Twente. If the winger was to move to White Hart Lane, he would be the third Belgian at the club and the 11th in the Premier League. Belgium have a bright future on the horizon....

This may pave the way for Everton to loan Barcelona wonder-kid Gerard Deulofeu. The Spaniard did catch the eye of the north London club, but it seems that Roberto Martinez may have his second Spanish signing of the summer.

The Toffees are set to miss out on one of their summer targets as Twente midfielder, Leory Fer, is close to completing a deal with Norwich City. The 23-year-old was on Merseyside in January, but failed his medical due to a knee problem. Chris Hughton has not been put off by this and hopes a deal can be done before the end of the week.

Arsenal look set to miss out on Stevan Jovetic as Manchester City are apparently very close to agreeing a deal with Fiorentina. Reports in Italy say that City will trigger his £25.8m release clause.

And finally, Blackpool winger Thomas Ince is set to join Cardiff City in the next few weeks. His father and manager Paul Ince, said that The Seasiders had accepted a bid at the end of June from the Welsh side.
