The World Cup may be kicking off next week but that doesn’t mean we’re any less interested in the summer transfer window.

The rumours have been flying thick and fast, with the usual suspects – Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo et al – dominating the headlines.

In terms of signings, Liverpool have set the pace, having secured a deal for Monaco’s Fabinho, while Manchester United are set to announce Fred as their first signing of the summer later this week.

But when does the new Premier League transfer window actually open – and when does it close?

Key dates:

17 May – Transfer window opens for the Premier League and EFL

8 June – International transfers can be processed

1 July – Pre-signed players officially start new contracts

9 August – Transfer window closes for the Premier League and EFL

31 August – Clubs will be able to sell players up until this date but they won’t be able to bring in replacements after the 9 August deadline

France – June 1 and August 31

Germany – June 1 and August 31

Italy – June 1 and August 31

Spain – June 1 and August 31
