Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The defender is yet to agree a new contract with Real Madrid, with the reports in Spain claiming the La Liga side are reluctant to meet his demands for a £135,000 deal.
AS have reported that the contract extension is not close to being agreed. Spanish radio station Cadena SER have claimed that Ramos is growing more and more concerned with the situation.
United have been linked with the 29-year-old all summer long. David De Gea has been linked with a move in the opposite direction, and the most recent reports claim that United manager Louis van Gaal is keen to sell the goalkeeper, who has one year left on his contract.
Real coach Rafa Benitez has strongly hinted this week that he wants to make more signings before the transfer window shuts.
"We have a good team, but coaches always want to improve," Benitez said after his side's pre-seaoson 1-0 Audi Cup final defeat to Bayern Munich. "The market is open until August 31."
