Louis van Gaal has revealed that Sergio Ramos could be part of Manchester United's transfer "process" as interest in the Real Madrid defender appears to continue.

United have seen a bid rejected for the centre-back but apparently remain unperturbed, despite Real Madrid insisting Ramos will not be sold.

In return, United are refusing to let David De Gea move to the Bernabeu this summer unless the Spanish club change their tune.

It's led to something of a stalemate, with neither player changing clubs this summer a real possibility. However, talking on the club's pre-season tour, Van Gaal indicated that Manchester United's attempts to bring Ramos to Old Trafford could be ongoing.

"I cannot talk about these rumours," he said.

"I have said in a lot of press conferences that it's a process. Maybe Mr Ramos is in the process - you never know."

Van Gaal has made no secret of the fact he wants to sign "at least" two more players in order to improve a couple of positions. Those are understood to be central defence and attack.
