Sergio Ramos to Manchester United: Complete breakdown in relationship with Real Madrid owner Florentino Perez paves way for move
Ramos and Perez's relationship is said to be beyond repair with the defender convinced that he is wanted out of the club

Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Sergio Ramos after his relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is believed to have completely broken down.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, the relationship between the two has gone beyond the point of no return, just over a year after Ramos scored the crucial 93rd-minute header that saw Real level the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid and go on to secure victory in extra-time.
United are desperate to sign Ramos this summer, and have already seen a bid rejected by the Spanish club, although that is unlikely to put them off making an improved offer.
The report goes on the claim that shortly after last year’s Champions League final, Ramos was promised by Perez that he would reward him with a contract that he “deserved”.
“I will improve your contract because you deserve it,” Perez is believed to have told Ramos, and reiterated the proposition after his goalscoring performance in the Club World Cup in December. But it took interest from United to trigger that contract offer this week, one that failed to meet Ramos’ pay demands, and that could see the defender begin to try and force a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ramos has been led to believe that Perez wants the vice-captain to leave the club along with veteran goalkeeper Iker Casillas following their pursuit of United’s David De Gea, and with the Premier League club unwilling to let the Spanish No 1 leave unless Real agree to let Ramos move in the opposite direction, the move could either stall or suddenly materialise should talks between both clubs reach a breakthrough.
