Is Sami Khedira's shirt absent on purpose?
Is Sami Khedira's shirt absent on purpose?

With the deals for Luis Suarez and Alexis Sanchez completed, the saga of Sami Khedira's move to Arsenal or Chelsea is now the main transfer story of the summer.

Whether his destination is the Emirates Stadium or Stamford Bridge, it seems certain that the German World Cup winner will not be at the Bernabeu next season, and this picture has emerged from the official club shop at Real's stadium with every replica shirt hanging on the wall, except for Khedira's No 6 jersey.

The 27-year-old was asked about his future during Germany's parade of their Word Cup trophy in Berlin yesterday, during which the Gunners forward Lukas Podolski jumped in the finish the question with the cries of "Arsenal! Arsenal!"

As reported in The Independent yesterday, the midfielder has no intention of signing a new deal in Madrid, and with one year left on his existing contract, Real want to sell him now instead of losing him for nothing in the summer of 2015.

He has opened talks with both Arsenal and Chelsea, but his demands of £150,000 may scupper a move to north London.

Of course, this shirt could have just been turned around before the picture was taken, but few would gamble buying a Khedira shirt now with his future so much in the balance.
