Saido Berahino cuts ties with Raheem Sterling's agent Aidy Ward after Liverpool saga to put his future before his wallet

Ward has been at the forefront of Sterling's push to leave Liverpool but confirmed he os no longer working with Berahino

West Brom striker Saido Berahino has appeared to put his career before his wallet after cutting ties with controversial football agent Aidy Ward, the man behind Raheem Sterling's persistent attempts to leave Liverpool for a lucrative move to Manchester City.

Ward left Impact Sports Management to set up on his own and has quickly grown into one the most well-known agents, perhaps for the wrong reasons, in British football. Ward convinced both Sterling and Berahino to join him in leaving Impact Sports and set-up with Ward.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Berahino has axed Ward after growing disillusioned with his role following Ward’s involvement in the Sterling saga.

Berahino is still contracted to Impact Sports Management, but Ward confirmed in quotes to the Daily Mail that the pair are no longer in working together.

“I’m no longer working with Saido,” Ward is claimed to have said. “You’ll have to ask him for the reasons. With Raheem, there has been a breakdown in trust between him and Brendan Rodgers.”

Sterling phoned in sick for the second day in a row, having initially returned to Liverpool’s pre-season training this week. The England international is also believed to have informed the club that he does not wish to go on their pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East, which could see the midfielder face disciplinary and even legal action.

With Sterling believed to be for sale for £50m, City are weighing up the prospect of launching a third offer for the wantway winger, and given that he rejected Liverpool’s £100,000-a-week offer Sterling can expect to be rewarded handsomely should he sign a contract at the Etihad.

But for Berahino, who was linked with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City last season as well as Liverpool, he looks set for a stay at West Brom which won’t do his development any harm as he continues to receive first-team football at the Hawthorns.
