Sadio Mané is expected to undergo a medical at Liverpool on Monday ahead of a proposed £30million move from Southampton.

The two clubs are believed to have agreed a transfer fee at the weekend, with Southampton initially holding out for £40m, and the 24-year-old forward will now discuss personal terms.

According to BBC Sport, Jürgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, earmarked Mané as a priority transfer target after an impressive display against his side last March.

The Senegalese international came on as a half-time substitute and scored twice as Southampton overcame a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 at St Mary’s.

If the deal is completed, Mane will become the third-most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history, surpassing the £29m paid for Roberto Firmino last summer.

Mané will also be the fifth player to swap St Mary’s for Anfield over the course of the last two years.

Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert and Nathaniel Clyne have all moved from the south coast to Merseyside since 2014.

Mané, who scored 15 goals in 43 appearances last season, joined Southampton from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014 for £11.8m.
