Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas wants to bring struggling striker Radamel Falcao to Zenit St Petersburg in January, according to reports.

The Colombian striker is himself on loan at Stamford Bridge this season, but has struggled in west London, scoring just one goal in 12 appearances for the Blues.

Chelsea would have to agree to cancel their own loan deal with Monaco for the 29-year-old, but VIllas-Boas is keen, accoriding to the Daily Telegraph.

He has failed to re-capture his pre-injury form, instead continuing in on the miserable run that made Manchester United opt against signing him permanently after last season.

Villas-Boas enjoys a great relationship with Falcao. The pair worked together at Porto in 2010-11, a season in which the club went undefeated in Portugal on the way to a treble that included the Europa League.

Falcao scored 38 goals in 42 matches that season and Villas-Boas attempted to bring the striker to Chelsea when he was appointed as manager that summer.

Jose Mourinho shares an agent with Falcao, Jorge Mendes, and it was hoped that the Chelsea manager would be able to bring his best form back.

Instead he has started just one Premier League game, the defeat to Southampton, despite Chelsea enduring their worst run of form since Roman Abramovich took over the club.
