Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro has returned to Germany to join Werder Bremen on a one-year loan deal.
The 29-year-old Peruvian moved to Stamford Bridge from Bayern Munich last summer on a Bosman free transfer but failed to make an impression in the Barclays Premier League.
He scored on his competitive debut for Chelsea against Birmingham last season but found the net only once more in 31 appearances.
Pizarro has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge all summer with the Blues hoping to sign Robinho from Real Madrid to bolster their forward ranks.
The South American has now returned to Bremen, where he enjoyed two successful seasons before moving to Munich in 2001.
