Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Whilst the Reds are watching the player it is not though that they are likely to make a bid for the Polish international until the Summer. A potential move for the Empoli midfielder may spark warning signals for the career of Joe Allen. The 25-year-old Welshman has been linked with former club Swansea City. However his winning penalty which put the Merseyside club into the League Cup final earlier this week is likely to keep him at the club.
Interestingly it is new Swansea manager Francesco Guidolin that initially bought Reds target Zielinski to Udinese, his current club. The midfielder moved from Polish club Zagłębie Lubin as a 17-yer-old in 2011 and is sure to be excited at a prospect of a move to the 18 time league champions.
In his press conference today, Klopp remianed tight lipped on the prospect of any furher transfers. "We are always busy, we always check the possibilities [for transfers]. If something happens, we will see!"
“That’s what we’ve done since I’ve been here. Now it’s close to the closing of the window, so if something happens, we will see.
“But there is nothing to say at this moment. If we were to be close to something, everything I could say now would disturb this – and if not, it’s the same situation, so we have nothing to say.
“You’ll have to wait, like I have to wait maybe. I have no problem with this, it is like it is. I am fine with the squad. Everybody can see the squad was never a problem, not for one second, it’s all about injuries and the number of games – that doesn’t fit too good.
“That’s the reason why we’ve thought about a few things but only if it makes real sense for us.”
Zeilinski looks likely to improve upon his 10 Poland caps and three goals in this Summer's European Championships. As a result Liverpool will hope that his price tag won't rise on the back of some eye-catching performances.
