From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Spain international is understood to be close to a move to Old Trafford with United in negotiation with Barcelona over the winger. It's thought the fee is a sticking point whilst his current club have been keen to stall on a move due to Neymar coming down with the mumps and a need for cover.
Pedro's team-mate Dani Alves, also linked with an Old Trafford move before agreeing a new contract at the Nou Camp said: "Ultimately the decisions don't come to me, they are for other people.
"The more people interfere, the harder the decision is. Of course if I had to make the decision it would be for him to stay here for many more years.
"It's down to him and his heart but if he stays we'll be delighted, if not we'll respect his decision.
"If you feel you're not wanted at a club you have to go. Let's hope he doesn't make that decision."
Pedro is expected to be in action this evening in the Uefa Super Cup, a contest between Champions League winners Barcelona and Europa League winners Sevilla.
Pedro has also been warned about joining Manchester United by Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov, who claims that Louis van Gaal is a "mediocre" manager and also a "bad person".
