Barcelona winger Pedro has been told by Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal that he will have a starring role in United's new front three this season alongside Wayne Rooney and Memphis Depay, according to reports.
The Daily Telegraph have reported that Van Gaal has promised the 27-year-old he will have a key role at the club in Van Gaal's new 4-3-3 formation, starting up front with Rooney and Depay.
Pedro, 28, has been on the periphery of the Barca squad in the last couple of seasons, but it appears this will not be the case if he moved to Old Trafford.
The Spain international has a €30m (£21m) release clause, with the most recent reports suggesting that United will meet the fee, after agreeing to sell Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain for £44m.
United will lose nearly £16m on Di Maria transfer, having bought him for £59.7m last summer from Real Madrid.
Speaking after a medical in Qatar on Tuesday, he told beIN Sports: "I am very happy to join Paris St-Germain. They're very important.
"They made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, so my objective was to arrive to Paris and to help them through the quarter-final barrier, because they have struggled in the past two seasons."
