Your support makes all the difference.Norwegian club Molde have published a short statement wishing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer luck in his new role at Manchester United, after the 46-year-old was named permanent manager of the English club on Thursday morning.
The move has seemed inevitable for many weeks given the transformation the 46-year-old fans' favourite has overseen since being named caretaker boss in December.
He initially arrived ‘on loan’ from Molde until the end of the season after Jose Mourinho was sacked following a galling 3-1 loss to Liverpool on December 16.
Molde had been adamant he would return to his job there, but Solskjaer was clear about his desire to stay at Old Trafford from the outset and it later emerged that his deal with the Norwegian club had been ripped up as he could not manage two sides at once.
Molde have since posted a message on their official Twitter account, which read: “Molde Football Club thanks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the efforts he has made with MFK, and wishes him the best of luck!”
Molde director Øystein Neerland earlier this week revealed that there was no pre-existing agreement between the two clubs. However, The Independent understands there will be a “gesture of goodwill” paid to Molde.
“It has been speculated that there has been such an agreement, but it is not correct,” Neerland told Norwegian media outlet VG.
“We get a compensation, but there is a case between the clubs.”
Neerland also revealed he received a call from Woodward on Wednesday and only spoke to Solskjaer this morning.
“I have had contact with Edward yesterday and today,” he said.
“Then Ole Gunnar communicated this to us today. He confirmed that it was true.”
