Manchester United transfer target Nicolas Otamendi has been urged to join the Premier League club by their own fans, with one demanding current defender Marcos Rojo to utilise their time together with the Argentina national team and 'tap him up'.

International squads often provide players the chance to discuss possible moves to another club, but Rojo slipped up when he favourited a United fan’s tweet to convince the defender that his future lies at Old Trafford.

A Twitter account by the name of @Anderology tweeted: “@marcosrojo5 make sure you talk to @Notamendi30 and tell him to finish up his deal with @ManUtd quickly!”

United have already secured the signing of Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven in a bid worth around £23m, but the spending looks set to continue as manager Louis van Gaal attempts to strengthen his squad for a Premier League title assault and the club’s return to the Champions League.

Otamendi has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and is believed to have informed Valencia that he would like to leave the club, though United will need to cough up more than £30m in order to speak with the 27-year-old.
