From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Neymar has made it known to Paris Saint-Germain he is willing to knuckle down and mend relationships if he does not get a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid before the summer window.

Barcelona have been negotiating with the French champions over the last week, but it is understood the player's first preference is the Bernabeu, and his attitude has softened in the last 48 hours.

Whereas he was previously "desperate" to leave, that stance has changed, and sources say it is not down to the difficulty of negotiations.

Barcelona have until Monday evening to complete the deal, although there is a tentative fear that Madrid could yet come in over the weekend.

Neymar and his entourage have nevertheless signalled to PSG that, if nothing happens, he is willing to change approach and work with the club.

The European transfer window shuts on Monday September 2nd.
