Fulham forward Moussa Dembele’s proposed transfer across the capital to Tottenham Hotspur has been cancelled, according to reports emerging from White Hart Lane this morning.

The 19-year-old underwent a medical on Saturday afternoon after the Cottagers accepted an offer from Spurs with their prized asset in the final six months of his contract.

However Sky Sports are suggesting this morning that Tottenham’s resistance to loan Dembele back to Craven Cottage until the end of the season has cut the deal short.

Mauricio Pochettino, the Spurs manager, has been frustrated this month as offers for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino fall on deaf ears in the West Midlands.

Should the Argentine soften his stance on loaning the former Paris Saint-Germain teenager back to Fulham, who are becoming embroiled in a relegation fight in the Championship, then the move could yet be salvaged.

Boss Slavisa Jokanovic is without a victory with his new club since watching them defeat Rotherham on 29 December. Spurs already have unrelated 28-year-old Belgium midfielder Mousa Dembele in their squad.
