Manchester United look set for a relatively quiet transfer deadline day having completed most of their business early in the summer - but could there be a late twist in the tale at Old Trafford?

Jose Mourinho identified his primary targets and moved for them quickly, signing Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof with the old season still fresh in the memory.

Nemanja Matic and a returning Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been later additions, giving United their most complete looking squad since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013.

Nevertheless, there have been persistent rumours linking the club with a new full-back and a new winger.

With less than 24 hours to go until the transfer deadline, here are some of the players who could be in or out of the door...

Incomings

Riyad Mahrez's future looked uncertain as of Thursday morning following confirmation he has been given permission to leave Algeria's national team training camp.

The Algerian Football Federation announced that the winger would be returning to Europe to "formalise his transfer to his new club".

United and Arsenal have both been linked with the 26-year-old, but to confuse matters further Leicester have reportedly not received a bid for the player in the past two weeks since interest from Roma died down.

Gareth Bale has been a permanent fixture in United transfer rumour round-ups since around 2007 and this summer has been no different.

The Welshman has looked unhappy at Real Madrid in the past 12 months and suffered the ignominy of being whistled by fans at the Santiago Bernabeu during the club's 2-2 draw with Valencia at the weekend.

With the emergence of Marco Asensio looking set to restrict Bale's playing time this season, could Mourinho offer an escape?

Another wide man linked with United this summer is Ivan Perisic but it looks unlikely the Croatia winger will be going anywhere after being offered a new contract by Inter.

Among the less believable rumours on Thursday morning was a move for former Manchester City and Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna.

The Frenchman has been out of contract since leaving City at the end of last season and has been tipped with a move to United or Chelsea to add squad depth.

Outgoings

Despite strong interest in a loan move from Valencia, it appears midfielder Andreas Pereira will be staying at Old Trafford this season.

Marouane Fellaini could be on his way, however, with Fenerbahce reportedly on the verge of agreeing a deal to sign the midfielder next summer.

The 29-year-old has been used a lot by Mourinho but has struggled to endear himsef to the United faithful in his four years at the club.
