The Senegalese forward, who has been heavily linked to Manchester United in recent months, will hold talks with his advisors over his future after he was left out of Saturday’s defeat against Norwich City.
Mane was omitted from the line-up after he turned up late to a pre-match meeting and Koeman went on to describe his player’s behaviour as ‘unacceptable’ following the loss at Carrow Road.
The incident has intensified speculation surrounding the player’s future. According to the Daily Mail, Mane believes he will stay with Southampton until the end of the season, having been told by the club that they will not listen to offers for him during this current transfer window.
It is, however, believed that Southampton are pessimistic over the chances of Mane extending his current contract with the club, which expires in 2018, and the forward’s future will be decided when he enters the final two years of his deal this summer.
Mane will hold talks on his future with his advisors during the week commencing January 11, according to the report.
"You have to respect your team-mates, the fans and the club because they pay good money for the players," Koeman said regarding Mane, after the defeat against Norwich.
"To change the line-up two hours before the game, it's unacceptable. It's the second time, it happened one time last year when he was late at the stadium and today he was late for the meeting.”
"I cannot understand that these kind of mistakes can happen," he added.
Mane was previously disciplined by the club for poor punctuality when he was dropped for Liverpool’s visit to St Mary’s in February last season.
