From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Newcastle United want £35million for the 26-year-old and, according to Le 10 Sport, Jose Mourinho may be willing to move for Sissoko if he misses out on his international team-mate Paul Pogba.
And what of Pogba? His talkative agent, Mino Raiola, has now suggested that United are not the only major club interested in signing his client this summer.
“The transfer market is open for a long time – it closes in September," he said. "Between Raiola and all the clubs in the world there is a line open, not only with Manchester United.”
In more midfielder news, Cesc Fabregas could be in line for a reunion with his old manager at Old Trafford, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 29-year-old Spain international joined Mourinho’s Chelsea two years ago and was instrumental in their 2014/15 title-winning campaign.
Antonio Conte, who begins work at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, is keen to sign new midfielders and could sanction Fabregas’ sale.
One confirmed deal is the 20-year-old England youth international Ashley Fletcher’s move to West Ham United.
Fletcher, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Barnsley and scored in both the Football League Trophy and League One play-off finals, has signed a four-year deal with the east London club.
Reece Oxford may move in the other direction, according to the Daily Mail.
The young midfielder has apparently been watched by Mourinho’s scouts at this summer’s Under-19s European Championships.
