United want at least three more signings to revamp their squad under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United are ready to meet Leicester City’s valuation of Harry Maguire, but the club insist they will not will not overpay for transfer targets.

The Leicester defender is a transfer target for United and local rivals Manchester City, but the Foxes are not budging on their lofty valuation of the England international.

The Sun reports that Leicester are confident United will pay the £85m they are asking for, while Manchester City, on the other hand, will not pay more than £60m.

"We're still in the market looking to do some business, but we're patient, we're Manchester United, we don't have to sell and don't have to overpay."

The paper also says that United have put a £120m price tag on Paul Pogba, who recently revealed he is ready to leave United for “a new challenge somewhere else”.

Real Madrid and Juventus stand as the sides most likely to complete a deal for the wantaway midfielder, and the Spanish side are willing to sell James Rodriguez in order to raise funds for the signing.

The Independent recently revealed that United rejected an approach from Paris Saint-Germain, who offered to swap Neymar for the World Cup winner.

The French midfielder wants a quick solution to his transfer situation, according to his agent Mino Riaola, who said: “Hopefully there will be soon a satisfying solution for all parties.

United join Arsenal and Leicester in the race to sign Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina, who handed prospective clubs a transfer boost by revealing he wants to stay in England and play for a “big club”.

United view the £20m-rated player as an affordable midfield re-enforcement following the departure of Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic’s downturn in form over the last 12 months.

“The best thing for me would be to stay here (England),” Lemina told France Football. “I aspire to play in the very biggest clubs, now we will see what is offered to me.”

The Red Devils may have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes after it emerged that he has been pulled out of Sporting’s next friendly match so he can complete a transfer.

According to Portuguese newspaper Correio de Manhan, Sporting manager Marcel Keizerhas been handling the player “with tweezers” to make sure Fernandes does not get injured ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.

The Mirror reports that Fernandes has a gentleman’s agreement with the club that should a £35m offer come in, it would be accepted, but United are playing the transfer cautiously and are in talks with agent Miguel Pinho before forcing the issue with Sporting.

The club have no plans to turn their attention to Christian Eriksen should they fail to land any of their other transfer targets.

Solskjaer would rather play Pogba and Matic next season rather than break the bank to pay the £70-£80m that Tottenham would demand, claim The Evening Standard.

David De Gea has delayed signing a new contract at United, but Solskjaer is confident an agreement will be reached soon.

The star goalkeeper has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including PSG and Real Madrid, and is holding out for terms that could make him the highest paid player at the club on as much as £500,000 per week.

“David has had a summer where he’s been negotiating and we hope we’re going to get it sorted,” Solskjaer said.

Raiola will not bring Matthjis de Ligt to Old Trafford after he confirmed the player has agreed personal terms with Juventus ahead of a move to the Italian champions. All that is left to agree is the fee between the two clubs as the Dutch defender returned to Ajax training this week.

United may line up Lazio Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as a potential replacement if Pogba leaves. United have long identified Milinkovic-Savic as a potential midfield talent and although he has not performed as impressively over the past six months, he is still highly regarded.

The Spanish-born Serbia international is the kind of dominant midfield force that United believe can adequately replace Pogba, although he is expected to cost upwards of £80m.

And after his agent flew to London this week, the rumour mill has started up with the possibility that United have begun talking about personal terms with the player.
