Manchester United’s upturn in form was finally transformed into a win on Sunday, as Jose Mourinho’s side beat Tottenham 1-0, and it seems the improvement has changed the club’s January transfer plans.

Matteo Darmian was widely expected to leave the club when the transfer window reopened in the new year, with a move back to Italy seeming probable after failing to secure a regular place in the United side.

However, the 27-year-old, who has been playing at left back ahead of Luke Shaw, has denied he is seeking a move away from the club, report ESPN.

"I play for one of the biggest clubs in the world so I'm happy,” he said. “I listen and read about the transfer but I don't know anything. At the moment, nothing is true. I will continue to do my job and want to stay here.

"I worked hard to take my chance when the manager gave it to me. Now I'm playing and of course I'm happy."

Another player not leaving Old Trafford for now is third-choice goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, report The Telegraph.

They claim Mourinho has blocked Wolves’ move to bring in the 23-year-old over his fury at the lack of playing time the Championship side have given left-back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

Wolves made enquiries to bring Johnstone in on an emergency loan deal after injuries to their two first-choice ‘keepers but United are unwilling to do business and are likely to also cut short Borthwick-Jackson’s deal in January.

Despite the improved form of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, as well as the return to fitness of Eric Bailly, Mourinho is still thought to want to bring in more defensive cover – although Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos will not be on his list according to Telefoot.

The say the defender has pledged his future to the club and has no plans to leave the French champions, despite being heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
