Manchester United have completed the signing of Spain youth international Arnau Puigmal from Espanyol.

The 16-year-old announced the move on his Instagram account, posting a picture of himself signing a contract alongside United Under-18s coach Kieran McKenna and former United striker Andy Cole.

Puigmal wrote: “Very happy and proud to announce that I am a new Manchester United player, a dream come true. It's time to work.”

Though the move is yet to be confirmed by the club, the midfielder is expected to join fellow new signings Ethan Galbraith, Di'Shon Bernard, Largie Ramazani and Aliou Traore in United's youth set-up.

Puigmal arrived in Manchester earlier this summer but has only now received the clearance required to finalise his move to United.

The 16-year-old, who caught the eye of United scouts while playing for Espanyol's Cadete A, scored in 6-0 pre-season friendly win for the Under-18s over SV Ebensee in July.

McKenna’s side have had a mixed start to the new Premier League Under-18s North season, having finished runners-up to Manchester City last term.

After a 4-2 opening round defeat at West Bromwich Albion, United bounced back with a 2-1 win over Stoke City.
