Massimiliano Allegri, the Juventus manager, has confirmed that the Serie A club are in talks with Manchester United over the transfer of Paul Pogba. “Pogba is a Juventus player at the moment but we don't know what is going to happen. The club are looking after negotiations,” he said.

Despite United’s interest in Pogba being well-established, Allegri’s revelation is the strongest official suggestion yet that negotiations have taken place between the two clubs.

Old Trafford continues to be linked with Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez, as reported by the Daily Mirror. The 25-year-old recently revealed that Los Blancos had received a £71m bid for him but he refused to specify which club had made the offer.

Even so, the Colombian star has said he has no desire to leave the Bernabeu and will stay to fight for a position at Madrid.

United are reportedly poised to join the race to sign Roma defender Kostas Manolas. The Serie A club are desperate to hold onto the 25-year-old but, according to the Manchester Evening News, talks over a new deal between the Greek and the club are said to have stalled.

Manolas’ agent Ioannis Evangelopoulos has suggested that United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested in the defender.

Manchester United defender Guillermo Varela will join the Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan, reports the Manchester Evening News. The clubs have agreed a deal for the 23-year-old Uruguayan, running until 30 June 2017.

The 23-year-old moved to United from Penarol in the summer of 2013 and he spent a season on loan with Real Madrid's Castilla side.

Lastly, Ivan Rakitic’s agent has suggested that the player could leave Barcelona this summer, which has supposedly alerted Manchester United, according to the Telegraph.

The Catalonia giants signed Andre Gomes on Thursday for £41.7m who becomes the latest midfielder to join the side. Rakitic is now one of 10 midfielders in the first team and despite being a key player in Barcelona’s campaign last year, he could potentially be on his way out.
