Manchester United's move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic appears to be edging ever closer.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still working hard to add reinforcements to his squad despite the signings of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
A new midfielder appears to be high on his shopping list, especially with Paul Pogba keen for a "new challenge" away from Old Trafford.
Serbian international Milinkovic-Savic is the No 1 choice with United set to pay €75m plus €5m in add-ons for him.
The player is said to have already agreed terms on a five-year contract with Il Tiempo reporting that he has already said his goodbyes to his Lazio teammates.
A deal for Bruno Fernandes appears to be edging towards a positive conclusion too.
United are at the front of the queue for the Portuguese international after an outstanding season last term for Sporting.
The Red Devils have apparently offered £55m for the 24-year-old with Sporting wanting closer to £62m with manager Marcel Keizer admitting his star man is likely to leave sooner rather than later.
"I can say about Bruno that he’s a very good player and he’s important for us," he said following Sporting's draw with Liverpool on Thursday night.
"Of course everybody would like him to stay but we don’t know the situation at the moment. He is here but we don’t know what the future will bring, so we will have to wait.
"We know that clubs like him, so we have to see what’s going to happen."
The move for Harry Maguire could be accelerated after Eric Bailly was injured in the pre-season clash with Tottenham on Thursday.
The defender has seen his time in Manchester blighted by a spate of serious injuries and fell to the floor in initially innocuous fashion before his teammates urged the medical staff to come onto the pitch.
He was then taken from the field on a stretcher in what will be boost to Leicester's bargaining position over Maguire.
The Foxes want upwards of £80m for the England international with negotiations ongoing.
Elsewhere, United have reportedly set Inter Milan a deadline to sign Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian international is new manager Antonio Conte's top summer transfer target and he is eager to get a deal over the line.
There has been talk of a two-year loan move with an obligation to buy with an offer of £54m already rebuffed by United.
The Daily Mirror claim that United have told the Serie A club they must up that offer to £75m before next weekend in order to do a deal and allow them the time to sign a replacement.
Should he leave that replacement could well be Lyon's Moussa Dembele.
The French forward scored 15 goals in 33 Ligue 1 games last term that apparently brought him to Solskjaer's attention.
Sky Sports report that United will move for him should Lukaku leave.
It remains to be seen whether Lyon would countenance a sale with Dembele still having four years left on his contract.
Goalkeeper Dean Henderson is on his way out.
The Daily Mirror report that a loan agreement with Sheffield United has finally been reached that will see the Englishman return to Bramall Lane.
Henderson was one of the Blades' stars as they secured promotion from the Championship last term.
