From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Solskjaer is eager to find cover for the injured Marcus Rashford and saw a late bid for Bournemouth’s Joshua King – a former United youth player – rejected on Thursday.
Eddie Howe, the Bournemouth manager, refused to rule out King leaving in a deadline day move while speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Solskjaer did not rule out any new arrivals at Old Trafford before the 11pm cut-off but struck a pessimistic tone while discussing United’s options.
“I don't think we’ll do anymore business, no,” he said. ”I am not sure, I don’t expect any more business to be done. I don’t think anything is going to happen.
“Sometimes I say something here and something else happens, sometimes I say I am happy with a player and he gets a different message, so I don’t want to help or make speculations grow more and more today.
“I expect nothing to happen but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen,” he added.
Solskjaer claimed to be happy with the options at his disposal if the deadline passes without an alternative to Rashford being found.
“I’m happy with the ones I’ve got here and with Bruno [Fernandes] coming in, that’s a big thing.
“We can play in a different way maybe and of course with the centre backs coming back and what we’ve done lately with three at the back that might be an option to tactically change a bit.”
