Manchester United transfer news and rumours: Paul Pogba deal edges closer with Juan Mata wanted by Juventus
The biggest transfer stories and rumours to emerge from Old Trafford on Sunday 10 July

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the final piece of their jigsaw this summer with Spanish media suggesting they have agreed terms with Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman is said to have been informed that he will receive a €13.5m-a-year (£11.5m) contract if he completes a world-record £100m switch from Juventus.
Mino Raiola, the player’s agent, has established strong ties at Old Trafford having also been heavily involved in the arrivals of both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer.
According to AS, the Italian-born Dutchman is on the verge of doing so again with Pogba.
Real Madrid, the European champions, are believed to be keen on luring Pogba to Spain but they have been put off by the world-record £100m valuation put on his head. United are desperate to reaffirm their status as a football super power and are prepared to back up their intentions with the required cash.
Another twist in the tale arrived in the Daily Mirror this morning as they reported that Juventus may be interested in taking Juan Mata as part of a player exchange deal.
Mourinho famously fell out with the Spaniard during his second spell at Chelsea and is likely to offload him once more after doing so un ruthless fashion at Stamford Bridge.
Mata joined United for £37.1m in January 2014 and has since become a firm fans’ favourite. The 28-year-old has scored 26 goals in 104 games for the club.
Mourinho revealed last week that he has set out a four-pronged transfer strategy to Ed Woodward, the executive vice-chairman, this summer. Having completed deals for Eric Bailly, Ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan already, Pogba is the last target to chase.
Meanwhile, Mourinho is allegedly prepared to let go of up to eight first-team players to make way for Pogba, offloading a number of the players from Louis van Gaal’s tenure.
The former Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss has already decided on the 22 players he believes can win him the Premier League title this season – and is willing to cut the others adrift. The Sun say Marcos Rojo, Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger are most at risk of a cull.
Memphis Depay, Daley Blind and Adnan Januzaj also face sleepless nights as Mourinho gets to work at Carrington.
