Borussia Dortmund have admitted there will be "some changes" in playing staff this summer as Manchester United continue to be linked with their players Ilkay Gundogan and Mats Hummels.

Louis van Gaal will be backed in the summer transfer market and the pair are understood to feature highly on his wish-list.

Their hopes of landing the Dortmund targets were boosted earlier this month when it was announced that Jurgen Klopp, the manager of the Bundesliga side, would be stepping down at the end of the season. The decision has created an air of uncertainty around the 2013 Champions League finalists.

Sporting director Michael Zorc concedes that the future of the pair is unclear.

"Gundogan's situation isn't straightforward, because his contract expires in 2016," he said. "There will be a decision soon."

Hummels' contract has longer to run but the player himself has indicated he could leave the club at the end of the current campaign. First there must be an offer that matches Dortmund's valuation for the World Cup winner.

"As far as I know, Hummels' contract still runs until 2017. We did not receive any offer that we should think about," added Zorc.

"There will surely be some changes to the team this summer. Maybe more changes than in recent years. But we won't radically change our team."
