The Italy full-back has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after initially struggling to find first team football under the new United boss. The 26-year-old didn't feature for Mourinho until September 15th.
Darmian, however, who made 39 appearances for the club last season, has come back into the fold recently filling in for the injured Antonio Valencia.
And, the 26-year-old seems to have found himself back in the frame under Mourinho after starting the last three games for United against Burnley, Fenerbahce and Swansea.
Darmian seems determined to fight for his place at Old Trafford and won’t entertain any notion that he could leave the club any time soon.
“Jose Mourinho wanted to cast me out? I’ve read things like that, but I don’t think it’s true.
“I keep going on my way, working to improve and give the coach a selection headache. I’m not thinking about the transfer window, it’s still too early.”
Darmian was signed by Mourinho’s predecessor, Louis Van Gaal, in summer 2015 and despite featuring heavily under the Dutchman; he is still yet to fully convince the 53-year-old.
However, when Valencia was ruled out with an arm fracture last month, Mourinho gave the Italy international a vote of confidence on his return to the side.
“The good thing is that even when Antonio was playing very well we were preparing Darmian,” said Jose.
“He was having matches against Feyenoord and Fenerbahce and having minutes. When in the last match we had to play Darmian for the first time in the Premier League he was ready to answer the way he did playing really well.
“We trust him totally. He is ready to play (in Istanbul) and give continuity to the good work our right-backs are doing.”
