Manchester United 'leaders' have 'not yet decided' about letting Radamel Falcao leave Old Trafford this summer

Monaco vice-president reveals the Colombian could still have a future at Manchester United

Radamel Falcao could still be a Manchester United player next season, according to Monaco's vice-president.

The Colombian striker has failed to make an impact at Old Trafford since joining on loan for the season from the Ligue 1 side. The former Atletico Madrid and Porto hit-man has scored just four goals for the Red Devils, a dreadful return for a player who arrived with such a big reputation.

That's led to an expectation that Manchester United will choose not to exercise their right to sign Falcao for a pre-agreed fee of £43.2m when his loan deal expires at the end of the campaign.

However, Vadim Vasilyev, the vice-president of Falcao's parent club, says Manchester United are yet to make that decision.

"I saw Manchester United leaders last Sunday and they have not yet decided if they will exercise the option [to sign Falcao permanently]," he told French daily newspaper Nice-Matin.

"It's not his best season but they retain the opportunity to talk at the end of the season. We are not in any further negotiations for the moment, even if big clubs are interested.

"The decision is in Manchester, then we will talk with the player to find out what he wants."

If Manchester United choose not to sign Falcao permanently, there won't be a shortage of suitors, despite his poor season. Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and a host of sides on the continent have been linked.
