From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The Belgian international is considered one of the hottest prospects in world football with Real Madrid's sporting director Zinédine Zidane saying he would sign Hazard "with his eyes closed".
The 21-year-old has consequently been linked with a host of big English clubs, including Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal.
It would now seem United have thrown their hat in the ring after manager Alex Ferguson confirmed an interest in the £30m-rated player.
The Scot told French radio station RMC Sport: "I came to watch Lille play Lyon and followed Hazard of course, along with other players.
"He is a very good player who has many qualities. He is particularly fast over the first 10 yards."
Hazard has found the net 16 times in 33 matches for Lille this season, with the club sitting third in Ligue 1.
Earlier this year, his club intimated they would be prepared to sell the Belgian this summer - but only at the right price. Hazard's contract runs until 2015 but it's understood he has a buy-out clause of £33m.
