Yet it's not going quite as smoothly as would be hoped considering all the money that Mark Hughes has spent. A run of seven draws threatened to derail their season before victory over Chelsea proved they could mix it with the big boys.
Despite bringing in Kolo Toure and Joleon Lescott, it has been in the defensive department that City have looked most fragile and this will be the key area to address in the January window. It's understood that Hughes is content with his current strike force and is not on the look out for a striker.
