The midfielder takes his place in folklore amongst legends such as Eric Cantona, Bobby Charlton and George Best - only he is remembered for all the wrong reasons.
The Cameroonian was arguably the worst signing of Sir Alex Ferguson's near quarter-century spell in charge at Old Trafford.
After 18 months at Manchester United and 20 attempts to prove he wasn't the next Roy Keane, he was sold to Aston Villa at a £2m loss.
In a two year spell at Villa Park he made just as dismal an impression and, via a loan spell at Burnley, left these shores.
And most thought that was the last that would be seen of Eric Djemba-Djemba. While first going off to Qatar, he then went to Odense Boldklub in Denmark before spells at Hapoel Tel Aviv and then Partizan Belgrade in Serbia.
With such a roster of clubs under his belt, there would be no shame in believing Djemba-Djemba must have had retired.
However, it emerged this afternoon that Scottish Premiership side St Mirren had signed the 32-year-old until the end of the season subject to international clearance.
St Mirren manager Danny Lennon told the club's official website: "He is a top drawer player who does a power of work in the defensive midfield area. Eric has performed that role at the highest level for top European clubs.
"He wants regular football to ensure he goes to the World Cup with Cameroon this summer and we are happy to give him that platform."
