Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he is looking to sign a defender during the current transfer window. The Liverpool manager revealed his plans following his side's Capital One Cup win over Stoke, a game which saw centre-back Dejan Lovren join the club's injury list. "In this moment with no centre back fit, I would say it is a situation where we have to think about going into the transfer market. Two weeks ago we had three centre backs, that's a good situation, at the start of the season we had five, now we have none."

It's been reported all week that Marko Grujic will sign for Liverpool imminently. It's hoped today will be the day that the club are able to announce the first signing of the Jurgen Klopp era. The 19-year-old will join in a £5.1m deal before being immediately loaned back to his current club Red Star Belgrade.

Another youngster reportedly close to signing for Liverpool is Kamil Grabara. The young Polish goalkeeper's current club, Ruch Chorzow, have confirmed the deal. "Grabara has been with us for 12 years. A few months ago we signed a contract with him to keep him until 2018, and now Liverpool want to have him," the Polish top-flight club's president Dariusz Smagorowicz told the Liverpool Echo.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed training yesterday, increasing the speculation that he could leave Borussia Dortmund this month. The striker has been prolific this season, leading to reports that he could be set for a big-money move to Arsenal or Liverpool. The 26-year-old missed training for 'personal reasons' according to his club.

Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has said he expects to see players come in to Anfield this month due to the club's injury crisis, but has warned the club not to panic. He told Sky Sports News HQ: "There will be people coming in because of the injuries that the club have at the moment – the squad’s not deep enough. But I don’t think as a manager or a club you want to buy someone now in a panic and maybe regret it for next season. If they can get the right the player they want now, get him – if not, bide your time and wait for the summer."
