Liverpool have made moves to sign Schalke defender Joel Matip, who will be a free agent in the summer. It's being reported that contact has been made with the 24-year-old about a move to Anfield when his contract expires. Jurgen Klopp is understood to be a fan and when asked about a possible deal recently, the Liverpool manager said: "Are we interested in Sane and Matip? They are Schalke players, right? It is correct that we are looking at all options."

20-year-old winger Yasin ben el-Mhanni has impressed in the Ryman Premier League with Lewes, enough to earn a trial at Crystal Palace. But the south London club aren't the only ones interested, with reports that Liverpool are among the others keen on the left-sided player known for his trickery.

Mark Ogden - What to expect from Liverpool this January transfer window

Hopes that Mario Gotze could arrive at Anfield at some point have been somewhat boosted by Bayern Munich's admission that they need to discuss the situation with the World Cup winner. Klopp is keen to be reunited with the former Borussia Dortmund player and the 23-year-old has reciprocated by admitting such a scenario appeals. Bayern's sporting director Matthias Sammer is quoted as saying: "Mario's comments were an indication that we will have to sit down at some point in the coming months and discuss his situation. That is only logical."

Despite Klopp recalling a number of players from loan, he is prepared to let Allan Rodrigues de Souza go elsewhere for the rest of the season. It's being reported that the Brazilian youngster is having a medical at Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden. The 18-year-old midfielder joined the Reds from Internacional for £500,000 last summer.

Another player being linked with a departure from Anfield is Jerome Sinclair. The youngster, who was on target in the recent FA Cup draw with Exeter, is out of contract in the summer and free to talk to other clubs about joining them for next season. Watford and West Brom are being linked with £3m deals this month in the hope that Liverpool could be prepared to cash in on the 19-year-old while they still can.
