Philippe Coutinho has been left out of the Liverpool squad to face Burnley just 24 hours after Nike appeared to accidentally confirm his transfer to Barcelona.

The Liverpool playmaker was the subject of three bids from the La Liga leaders in the summer and even handed in a transfer request in order to try and push through the deal but the Reds held firm and Coutinho remained at Anfield.

Barca are reported to be preparing a £130m January bid and Nike, who sponsor both Barcelona and Coutinho himself, announced the news on their website before swiftly deleting it.

However, Coutinho’s absence from the entire match-day squad is actually due to a thigh injury picked up against Leicester, rather than anything to do with a move to the La Liga side.

Top scorer Mohamed Salah is also absent from the 18 named by Jurgen Klopp although that is due to a knee injury sustained in the 2-1 win over Leicester which could keep him out for around two weeks.

Liverpool team to face Burnley: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Klavan, Lovren, Gomez, Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mane, Solanke.
