Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool are still interested in free agent striker Samuel Eto'o despite the impending arrival of Mario Balotelli, according to Italian media.
Balotelli is expected to complete a £16m deal to Anfield shortly, with Italian giants AC Milan confirming on their website that he is going to leave the club.
But the imminent move has not stopped Rodgers from being linked to another striker, with Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio stating Liverpool have held fresh negotiations with free agent Samuel Eto'o, who has been linked with a move to Anfield all summer.
After the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, Liverpool currently only have Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert as the only first-team strikers in the squad.
The potential arrivals of Balotelli and Eto'o would hugely improve the squad's depth, as they prepare to challenge in both the Premier League and Europe - last season, of course, they were not involved in the Champions League.
Eto'o brings a wealth of European experience, having won the competition twice with Barcelona and once with Inter Milan.
The Cameroonian scored 12 goals for Chelsea last season.
