The president of Egypt’s Football Association has claimed that Real Madrid will make an offer for Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah in the summer.

Salah, an Egypt international, has made a sensational start to life at Anfield having only arrived from Roma for £36.9m last summer.

The 25-year-old has scored 24 goals from 30 appearances, operating off the right-hand side of Jurgen Klopp’s dynamic Liverpool side.

In October, Salah also scored a crucial penalty to ensure Egypt would qualify for their first World Cup since 1990.

Hany Abo Rida, the Egptian FA’s president, has now suggested that Madrid are ready to bid for Salah and that such a move would be “great” for the country’s game.

“Real Madrid will make an offer for Salah during the summer,” he said, in quotes reported by the Daily Mail.

“Salah is now looking to improve his game. Obviously if an Egyptian plays for a club as popular around the world as Real Madrid, it’s going to be great for Egyptian football.”

Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen are preparing to fend off bids for Leon Bailey, who is believed to attracted interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.

Leverkusen’s squad manager Jonas Boldt has insisted that the Bundesliga club is the best place for Bailey to develop as a player.

“He has only been here for a year. He should play for Bayer Leverkusen,” he said, in quotes reported by ESPN. “There might even be a better market for him once he has played in Champions League.”
