Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 33-year-old arrived at Anfield last summer after being released by former club Manchester City.
But after a season in which he played just 24 matches in all competitions, he could be on the move again.
“We are building the type of squad which we promised to the fans,” Haciosmanoglu is quoted as saying.
“We have agreed terms with Kolo Toure and we will bring him to the club.”
Toure begun the season as first-choice but lost his place in November after a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal.
For the rest of the season he was in and out of the team but lost his place once and for all after an error at West Brom in February cost Liverpool two points, starting just two matches after that.
With the arrival of Dejan Lovren from Southampton, Toure has been deemed surplus to requirements.
