Barcelona have been linked with a sensational move for Liverpool and England right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

The La Liga giants are looking to replace Dani Alves who joined Juventus over the summer on a two-year deal after admitting life at the Nou Camp had ‘become too easy’.

Barca are considering their options for the January transfer window and, according to The Sun, have identified Clyne as their number one target.

At only 25, Clyne has plenty of years left in the tank while his pace on the ball has also caught the attention of the Catalans.

Reports suggest that Barcelona have already taken the first steps towards striking a deal for the defender.

But with Clyne contracted at Anfield until 2020, it’s very likely a multi-million offer would need to be tabled in order to persuade Jurgen Klopp to do business.

The La Liga champions have been linked with a whole host of surprising names as they look to reinforce their options at right-back.

Rather unbelievably, reports in the Spanish media linked Glen Johnson to the Nou Camp with rumours suggesting that manager Luis Enrique was in the market for a ‘low cost right-back’.

In the same reports, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Darijo Srna were also mentioned as potential targets.

Since Alves joined Juventus as free agent, both Sergi Roberto and Aleix Vidal have been utilised by Enrique to plug the gap in his side’s defence.

But the Barcelona boss remains unconvinced by either and is reportedly attracted by what Clyne could bring to the side.
