Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 31-year-old Denmark international - a Roy Hodgson signing last summer - has been out of favour at Anfield ever since Kenny Dalglish took over in January.
Poulsen, who did not play a match for the Reds after their Europa League tie in Braga in March, has signed a one-year contract with the Ligue 1 newcomers.
"It's official, Patrick Trotignon, the president of the SASP and Pascal Dupraz, the sports director, presented their latest recruit on Wednesday afternoon at the training centre," said a statement on the French club's website www.etgfc.com.
"Christian Poulsen was hired for a season from Liverpool."
A statement from Liverpool said: "Liverpool have today confirmed that Christian Poulsen has completed his transfer to Evian Thonon Gaillard.
"The Danish midfielder moves to the French side after making 21 appearances in just over a year at Anfield.
"Everyone at Liverpool Football Club would like to wish Christian the best of luck with his future career."
