Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It has been reported today that Arsenal are keen on signing the Mexican striker.
The Daily Star have reported that the Gunners are weighing up making a move for the striker, who would be open to another crack at England's top flight, the report adds.
Hernandez, nicknamed 'Chicharito' which translates as the Little Pea, has been in phenomenal form for Leverkusen this season, scoring 19 goals in 21 appearances.
He was sold to the German side by Louis van Gaal last summer for £7m.
Hernandez spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, where he scored seven goals in 23 La Liga games.
Another striker is coveted by Wenger, who has just Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott at his disposal at present.
The 27-year-old scored 37 goals in 103 Premier League appearances for United between 2010 and 2015.
He is known Chicharito because his father, Javier Hernandez Gutierrez, a fellow professonal footballer, was nicknamed Chicharo which translates as Pea because of his green eyes.
