Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson has confirmed the club are awaiting a response from Arsenal after submitting an offer for defender Justin Hoyte.

Right-back Hoyte, 23, is seen by Boro as the ideal replacement for Luke Young who was allowed to move to Aston Villa last week.

Gibson told Sky Sports News: "We have submitted a bid and we are waiting for Arsenal to respond.

"We've given it our best offer and we hope that it happens, but if it doesn't we move on."
