Gareth Bale will not be leaving Real Madrid on loan despite Zinedine Zidane revealing the club are “working on his departure”.
Bale’s relationship with Zidane reached breaking point recently and the Real Madrid manager said he hopes a deal for Bale can be struck soon “for everyone’s sake”.
The Spanish club are unlikely to let Bale leave cheaply given he has three years remaining on his current contract.
This meant that a number of clubs were said to be interested in signing the 30-year-old on loan, but his agent, Jonathan Barnett, has ruled out a temporary move.
“There will be no makeshift deals to get him out of the club,” Barnett told Sky Sports News.

He has played with the same confidence and ability he showed all the way through his young career so far, at Coventry City, Aberdeen and Norwich City. The only question is what next. Manchester City, Liverpool and Spurs have been following Maddison his whole career but he has always put football first. And while that interest is still there, he is not expected to leave Leicester yet. Especially given the recent arrival of Brendan Rodgers. Verdict: stay

Because he had one year left on his deal and was not signing a new one. Real Madrid would be his destination and Spurs were already lining up replacements. But there have been plenty of changes at Madrid recently, with Zinedine Zidane coming in and changing their transfer plans. Pogba himself is interested in a move to Madrid, and has been for years. And while Pogba’s form did improve after Jose Mourinho’s departure at Christmas, there is also a view at Old Trafford that they would be better off without a player who is so inconsistent, and who some view as a negative dressing room influence. United would still need to recoup most of the £89m fee for him to sell, however. Verdict: 50/50

Bale was linked with a loan move to a number of Chinese clubs, but these sides will not want to sign him permanently due to the 100 per cent tax levied on foreign players that goes to youth football development in the country.
Manchester United have been long-term admirers of Bale, but will not make a move for him at this time. Tottenham have also shown tentative interest, but will not be able to get near to his wage demands, meaning he is highly likely to start the coming season at the Bernabeu.
“Gareth is a Real Madrid player and for now he’s staying as a Real Madrid player,” Barrnett added.

After being called a “disgrace” by Bale’s agent, Zidane said he did not show the forward a lack of respect and revealed he asked not to play in a friendly match.
“I haven't shown a lack of respect towards anyone and particularly not towards a player," he said.
"I've always said the same thing: the players are the most important ones in all of this. Whenever there's a player involved, I'll always back them.
"What I said the other day is that the club was working on his exit,” Zidane added.
"Gareth didn't come on (against Bayern Munich) because he didn't want to.
"He said that the club was working on his exit and that's why he didn't come on.
"Gareth is a Real Madrid player, he'll train as normal today and we'll have to see what happens tomorrow."
