From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

West Brom have rejected what chairman Jeremy Peace describes as a "derisory" offer from Fulham for captain Jonathan Greening.

The midfielder, 30, has been at the centre of much speculation over his future in recent weeks, with rumours only intensifying following full-back Paul Robinson's switch to Bolton over the weekend.

Greening still has a year remaining on his deal at The Hawthorns, plus a further year's option in the club's favour, while Albion have also offered him a new four-year contract.

And with the club in no mood to sell, Peace insists the offer received from Roy Hodgson was rejected swiftly.

The Baggies chief said: "Contrary to reports, this is the only offer we've received from Fulham.

"Jonathan is our captain and a vital member of the squad. Therefore, we didn't give Fulham's offer a second thought.

"It is derisory for a player of Jonathan's talent and experience.

"We made it abundantly clear at the end of last season that, should any players leave, it will be on our terms.

"We want to keep all of our best players as we strive to gain promotion back to the Premier League.

"We are under no financial pressure to sell anyone."

Recent reports suggest a cash plus player, supposedly Hameur Bouazza, deal has been put on the table by the Cottagers.
