Manchester United’s interest in Lazio midfielder Felipe Anderson is believed to have been held up due to a personal payment that will be due to the attacking midfielder in the event of any transfer, although his proposed £35m moved to Old Trafford is generating conflicting reports.

The Express claim that the 22-year-old has a clause in his contract that entitles him to five per cent of the transfer fee, with United believed to be leading the race to sign the Brazil international in January.

However, he has suffered a dip in form of late and while it’s claimed United have already launched a bid for the midfielder, reports in Italy suggest that the Premier League side are yet to make an official approach to the Serie A club.

Chelsea meanwhile are being claimed to have made for Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Alex Teixeira, with a fee of £30m being reported by the Daily Star. The Blues have been linked with the in-form Brazil Under-20 international, who has already scored 26 goals in 26 games this season.

Guus Hiddink could also launch a move for AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca, despite the 29-year-old Colombian only joining the Italian side in the summer from Europa League champions Sevilla. Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Bacca has caught the eye of officials at Stamford Bridge and could be brought in to provide competition for first-choice striker Diego Costa.

However, Milan will demand in excess of £30m for the striker which could see him remain at the San Siro for the remainder of the season.

Newcastle will look to rival Tottenham in the race to sign West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino after renewing their interest in an £18m transfer, according to the Daily Mail. Spurs attempted to land the England Under-21 international in the summer, only to see the move blocked by West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace. But Berahino has since struggled to break into manager Tony Pulis’s first-team and he could be allowed to leave in January should either Newcastle of Spurs meet West Brom’s valuation.

Another player on the Newcastle radar is Swansea midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who is also on the fringes of the first-team at the Liberty Stadium. Shelvey was given a rare start in Swansea’s 3-2 FA Cup embarrassment on Sunday as they suffered defeat at Oxford, and Sky Sports claim that the Magpies have already launched a move to try and sign the England midfielder.

Finally, Liverpool are believed to have won the race to sign former Inter Milan striker Alexandre Pato, with an £11m deal being reported by the Daily Star. Pato, who is currently signed to Brazilian side Corinthians, has been linked with both Arsenal and Tottenham, but it’s claimed that current Liverpool players Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino have persuaded their compatriot to join them at Anfield.
