The Paris Saint-Germain forward’s contract with the Ligue 1 club is set to expire at the end of the season which led to his representatives holding talks with the defending Premier League champions, as well as Serie A sides Inter and Juventus.
Shanghai Shenhua, another Chinese Super League team, believed they had agreed a deal to sign the Argentina international on Tuesday, only for Hebei to steal the 30-year-old’s signature from under their noses.
Lavezzi, who will earn an estimated £23.5million after tax over the course of the two-year deal, is the latest European-based footballer to move to China.
He joins the likes of Alex Teixeira, Jackson Martinez, Ramires and new team-mate Gervinho as a new addition to Asia’s premier league competition.
A combined total of £100million was spent on the four aforementioned players by Chinese clubs in the last month.
