Everton have set a new £28million price tag on England forward Ademola Lookman.

RB Leipzig made a third offer of £22m on Sunday for the 20-year-old, hoping to finally complete a deal they have been working on all summer.

In July Leipzig offered £12m and then £14m for Lookman, both of which Everton rejected, before a long wait leading up to their third, improved offer.

Now Everton have responded, demanding another £6m for the player. The ball is now back in Leipzig's court as they decide whether to break their transfer record by an even bigger margin to sign the youngster.

Lookman spent the second half of last season on loan at Leipzig where he flourished, scoring six goals in the Bundesliga.

He has told Everton that he would like to move there permanently, after a summer in which Everton have signed Richarlison and Bernard to play in his position and Lookman has moved even further down the Goodison Park pecking order.

Everton have told Lookman that he is part of their plans, but Lookman knows he is likelier to play more first-team football in Germany rather than in England this season.
